About Us

Our mission

Ocean Forest Construction’s story starts with two friends who met in college at Coastal Carolina University. We shared a love for construction and started a fledgling business by building props for sororities and fixing holes in drywall… and it’s only grown from there. We then officially established OFC in 2022 as a decade-long goal.

Both of us grew up with DIY fathers who gave us our passion for construction, which is why we treat every project as if it were in our own home. We want every one of our customers

comfortable and stress-free throughout the entire process.

At Ocean Forest Construction, we take responsibility seriously. You trust us with your project, and we honor that through clear communication and quality work. We stand behind what we build and aim to create lasting, successful relationships through our work.

Every Detail Matters!

Colman Vaughan

Colman’s passion for construction started around the time he was old enough to walk. From taking toys apart and putting them back together to building Lego sets without instructions, Colman has always exhibited the skill of technical problem solving. He funnels that skill into every project.

Colman graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Applied Physics and a minor in Applied Mathematics with the dream of becoming an engineer. After college, Colman quickly got a job in New York City working for a large commercial flooring contractor. But he soon realized an office job was not for him. He then packed up his two degrees and his childhood passion and found a way to make them work together with his buddy in South Carolina. Ocean Forest Construction is not just a job to him, but a channel to share his passion with others and to make their dreams a reality.

Taylor Monts

From the middle-of-nowhere Indiana, Taylor grew up with parents who transformed a 1913 farmhouse into a family home and there has been a never-ending list of projects since. Like Colman, he also had a different career right out of college as a PGA Golf Professional. That business taught him the importance of customer service and effective communication. While it did not end up being his lifelong passion, Taylor still thinks this was the best way for him to learn how relationships and business correlate.

After golf, Taylor worked as a project manager for real estate investors while he worked on talking Colman back down to South Carolina. In 2022, after a year of weekly phone calls to talk about their future business, Colman’s wife finally agreed. Now armed with experience in operations and his degree in finance, Taylor leads the business side of OFC.
